It was fabulous to see the sun come out just in time for the start of the English school summer holidays. What better than to be outdoors. Pom bear were so very kind as to send us a camping kit to try out. The same one that we’re offering in our latest giveaway.
I asked a willing Cara, aged 5 years to help me review this (with the help from Cara’s Father).
Cara and her Dad opened the box with the camping kit in and discovered everything in vivid canary yellow, which Cara was very excited about. An excellent choice in colour, along with the Pom Bear emblem on everything. Cute.
In the camping kit there is a four man tent, a child’s sleeping bag, a blow up pillow, a compass, and a Pom Bear teddy.
So here is what happened:
Cara quickly found the cuddly Pom Bear and this has barely left her side since our mini camp.
We opened the tent bag and were relieved when it looked so easy to put up, two poles to push through in a cross shape. The tent shape was soon in place in less than five minutes by a five year old with supervision.
I then clipped the mini roof on to make it waterproof as she had no intention of letting us take it straight down. All that remained was to attach the four guide lines. A job for an adult. This was probably the trickiest part but was still only a five minute job.
Only four pegs were provided in the kit and eight were needed as there are four holes to pin the base apart and four needed to support the guide lines but a quick raid to a similar dome tent in the shed quickly solved our little problem.
Ten minutes gone so far and then it was time for the sleeping bag to come out and it seemed great quality and very compact in its carry bag. Wasn’t sure what the inflatable pillow was at first but quickly realised when we blew it up. Very practical as it takes up no space but had a very strong rubber smell that may fade as it loses its newness.
The compass was not really much use and seemed very floaty as to where North was but the key ring clip made it handy to keep near. All in all a great little package that is assembled in ten minutes and that the kids are guaranteed to love with Pom Bear adorning every bit of kit. We added a roll up picnic blanket and this might make a great addition to any future outdoor adventures.
Will have to sneak her passed the crisp aisle in our local supermarket from now on or this could cost us a fortune in Pom Bear crisps!!
